Education & Outreach Intern
This position focuses on building a dashboard to manage and visualize data from TACC’s education and outreach programs. Interns will assist in gathering requirements, designing features, and exploring data storytelling techniques. They will gain experience in software development, data management, and tools such as Python, Dash, D3.js, and JavaScript.
Large Scale Systems Intern
This position offers hands-on experience in supporting high-performance computing (HPC) systems. Interns will assist in maintaining cluster hardware, monitoring system health, and supporting nodes that run the Linux operating system. They will acquire foundational knowledge of Linux, HPC architecture, and networking technologies such as Ethernet, Infiniband, and OmniPath.
Life Sciences Computing (LSC) Intern
This position provides the opportunity to strengthen skills in programming, version control, containerization, working with large data sets, working in a research computing environment, communicating with a wide range of audiences, and working collaboratively.
Life Sciences Computing (LSC) Intern 2
This position provides hands-on experience in supporting software tools for biomedical research. Interns will assist in developing and testing workflows, integrating applications with APIs, and writing documentation. They will acquire practical skills in software development, research computing, and tools such as Git, GitHub Actions, and Docker.
Life Sciences Computing (LSC) Intern 3
This position supports a national research project focused on understanding pain and its development over time. Interns will assist in extracting, organizing, and cleaning medical research data using tools such as Python and databases, ensuring accuracy and adherence to required formats. They will gain hands-on experience working with data, writing simple code, and utilizing standard tools to support research while learning how information flows through real-world scientific projects.
Project Management Intern
This position supports the EpiEngage Pandemic Simulator and Jetstream2 training projects through roles in product management and UI/UX design. Interns will gather stakeholder feedback, create wireframes, and help guide dashboard design using tools like Figma. They may also assist with coding and developing training materials. The role offers experience in project management, user research, interface design, and tools such as React, Python, Docker, and HTML/CSS.
TACC Resource and Allocation Management (TRAM) Intern
The position offers the opportunity to join and participate in an agile team. After learning the
fundamentals of Python, Bash, Git, Docker, and Natural Language Processing (NLP), the intern
will develop tools for classifying research and allocation proposals. The intern may also support
the TRAM team in creating a new project and allocation management web application.
User Services Intern
This position offers the opportunity to assist with the research, design, and implementation of a
Natural Language Processing (NLP) model based on TACC documentation and user interactions.
The model will provide 24-hour user support for HPC applications. The intern will learn how to
clean and curate data, train an NLP model, understand its framework, and implement it into a
large-scale system for round-the-clock user support.
Visualization Services Intern
This position offers an opportunity to assist the visualization team in developing interactive and
immersive applications for the LCCF Visitor Center, which will begin construction in 2025. The
intern will work with scientific data generated by researchers using TACC systems and help
create applications that display and analyze this data using cutting-edge visualization
technologies.
Web and Mobile Applications (WMA) Intern
This position allows individuals to gain hands-on experience by being embedded with teams
that conduct scientific research and software development while contributing to impactful
projects.
